Dear Friends and Neighbours,

On behalf of Hunter Valley Operations (HVO), we are seeking your support to extend HVO operations out to 2045.

For more than 70 years, HVO has been a source of community strength and economic stability in the Hunter. We have a local workforce of 1,500 people who are skilled and dedicated to making a difference and supporting the Hunter region.

Last year, HVO directly contributed A$1.7 billion to the NSW economy and spent more than $1 billion on goods and services from over 800 businesses.

We know that the high quality HVO coal will continue to be in demand from Australia’s key trading partners across Asia as they continue to urbanise. The economic benefits from continuing HVO operations in the form of taxes and royalties would also allow us to contribute to the energy transition here in Australia.

As we enter the 5th year of the project approvals process for the HVO Continuation project we think we need to send a clear message to the NSW Government that our operation, our people and the community and businesses we support across the Hunter region are important.

In response to feedback from the NSW Government, we have refined our proposal to reduce production rates and adjust timelines. Collectively, these changes will result in:

- A 30% reduction in diesel emissions over the life of the project
- A 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the life of the project
- A 50% reduction in fugitive greenhouse gas emissions over the life of the project

These measures show our commitment to operating safely and responsibly.

Your voice is essential in shaping a future for the Hunter. We kindly ask you to add your name as a show of support for the HVO Continuation Project. Every signature brings us one step closer to securing the future of our HVO community.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Dave Foster
