The proposed grant funding application supports the Conditions and Goals for Future Operation of the Lawson Park (property 8.81) of the Management Plan for Community Lands (No 16.7.1) by more effectively providing for community sporting and recreation needs, improving facility maintenance, upgrading and improving facilities.
Council is committed to ensuring the ongoing use of Henry Lawson Oval where this diverse space is used for sporting and organised gatherings year round including local tournaments and training for football, soccer and cricket. The oval is also used by the NSW Ambulance Aeromedical Service, as Grenfell does not have a dedicated purpose-built helipad.
General benefits of LED sports lighting:

• Longevity: 50,000 – 100,000 + hour lifespan, far exceeding traditional systems
• Safety: Uniform light distribution eliminates dangerous dark spots and shadows improving sports players safety and landing zone of medical helicopters

• Low Maintenance: Dramatically reduces ongoing replacement and service costs
• Stronger positioning: Professional lighting makes clubs more attractive to new events including attracting tourists to watch night events.
