Hereford City 2050 Consultation

We are developing the Hereford 2050 City Masterplan which will be an ambitious plan setting out a vision for Hereford that is designed to shape the future of the City.
At its core, this plan will be people-led, committing to prioritise the need of Hereford’s residents, businesses and visitors in future decision making and future development.
In order to ensure the plan is people-led we have set out a series of questions for you to consider:
Culture
Hereford will become a vibrant cultural and leisure hub. Historic civic buildings will be used for community life, High Town will be preserved, and the city will nurture its artisan scene and local businesses, with heritage at the core of its cultural identity.

Education
Hereford will be recognised as a destination for outstanding education, elevating the roles of NMITE, Hereford College of Arts, Sixth Form, and Herefordshire College. By improving the cultural and housing offer, the city plans to successfully retain its
young population.

What would make Hereford’s city centre a place where young people want to live, work, and spend their time?
Health
The city will focus on health service access and promoting active, healthy lifestyles. A holistic approach to wellbeing, including quality education, jobs, homes, and culture, will enrich residents’ health. Public spaces and the River Wye will provide opportunities for social wellbeing and outdoor activities.

Homes
Increasing residential living in the City Centre will bring more vitality. This will be achieved by delivering the Merton Meadows Urban Village and repurposing vacant buildings to create diverse housing that meets the needs of all generations. All new residents will benefit from having essential services, shops, leisure, and green open spaces nearby.
