After consultation with industry in 2021, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) are recommending the establishment of a Heavy Vehicle Driver Apprenticeship using the current Certificate III in Driving Operations qualification. Read more about the AIS project here.

The aim is to:
- assist in improving the professionalism of the heavy vehicle driver role
- address critical driver shortages
- increase the attraction to industry

The next step is to have the Certificate III in Driving Operations declared as an apprenticeship in Queensland.

We are seeking your views on:
- What funding subsidy should be requested (User Choice Program)
- The level of demand for this apprenticeship
- Length of time to complete apprenticeship
