My name is Addison Bean and I am a graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology Program at Midwestern University completing my Master's Thesis.
You might be able to join a research study entitled "Audiologists' and Speech-Language Pathologists' Perspectives on Hearing and Cognition." The information below provides an overview to help you decide whether you want to participate in this research study.
Why is this study being done?
The purpose of this study is to identify audiologists' and speech-language pathologists' knowledge and confidence in hearing loss and cognition with adults and clinical practice patterns when working with these populations.
Are you eligible to participate in the study?
You are eligible to participate in this survey if you are a licensed audiologist or speech-language pathologist who works with adults.
What will you be asked to do during the study?
You will be asked to complete an online survey. This survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
What are the main benefits to you if you decide to participate?
There are no direct benefits. If you decide to participate, you will have the satisfaction of sharing your insight regarding this topic.
What are the main risks if you participate and what is being done to minimize those risks?
There are no anticipated risks to you.
What information will be collected about you?
Demographic information about your degrees, years of experience, and populations you serve, along with data regarding your knowledge and confidence in hearing loss and cognition, and clinical practice patterns.
What is being done to protect information collected about you?
We promise to keep your information private, but we can't promise absolute secrecy. Here’s how we’ll keep your information safe. In the survey, your responses will be anonymous. You will not be asked to provide any personally identifying information, such as your name or email. All survey data will be stored in a password-protected account that is secured in a protected environment.
Will information being collected about you be shared with others?
We'll only share your information with those who need it for this study. Results will be reported as group data.
How much will participation in the study cost?
There are no costs to participating in this study.
