Harlingen CISD is applying to receive Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER III) to address student learning and COVID-19 recovery.  These funds are designated for one-time or short-term expenditures to address the ongoing impact of the pandemic. 

As a Harlingen CISD valued school and community member, we would very much like to hear your perspective to help us plan appropriately in the use of these federal funds to support the needs of our students and community.

 To provide additional school days, extended school hours, summer enrichment, tutoring and staff development to accelerate learning.
To provide instructional materials/resources, activities, and outreach to meet the needs of students.
To secure diagnostic assessments and tools to help students, parents and families improve student engagement in distance learning and track student attendance.
To provide students with disabilities various services that were disrupted due to COVID-19.
To provide social and emotional/counseling, wellness supports to students and professional development (training) to staff.
To purchase cleaning supplies to sanitize facilities, personal protective equipment and provide staff training on safety procedures.
To provide HVAC/Equipment and facility updates for cleaner indoor air quality and other building renovations to enhance environmental and health safety.
To provide technology updates and improve infrastructure and connectivity.
To provide an online learning platform and dashboards to ensure educational services can continue during long-term closures.
To provide allowable staff retention stipends, which are reasonable and necessary, to maintain staffing and meet the extra demands on staff as a result of the pandemic.
