Roots and Wings: Hallmarks of Intergenerational Worship Survey

Thank you for taking the Roots and Wings: Hallmarks of Intergenerational Worship Survey!

This survey is designed to help you reflect and assess the levels of intergenerationality in your church’s worship by exploring five key traits:

1. Intentionality: how purposefully your congregation considers the presence, needs, and voices of different generations in worship. This trait considers whether your congregation's planning, reflection, and discernment intentionally include all ages in meaningful ways.

2. Relationality: the quality of relationships and connections formed across generations in worship. This trait looks at whether people of different ages experience a sense of belonging, community, and interdependence rather than worshiping in isolation.

3. Dignified Reciprocity: the mutual giving and receiving that happens between generations in worship. This trait reflects whether people of all ages are treated with dignity, equity, and respect, fostering relationships that are reciprocal rather than transactional.

4. Flexibility: the ability to make space for grace, movement, and human need in worship. This trait considers whether the service accommodates different ages and situations with patience and forgiveness rather than rigidity or annoyance.

5. Empowerment: how worshipers of all ages are invited, equipped, and supported to participate fully in worship. This trait reflects whether different generations are empowered to lead, contribute, and engage meaningfully throughout the service.
