She brought to the table her experience in fund raising and event planning to raise money for this wonderful cause.Gail planned several events in the local community for Morgan Sim, “Girl of the Year for LLS. “Pizza with A Purpose” was the first event in Port Washington, N.Y. The owner of Amalfi Pizza donated 20% of the proceeds for dine in and take out orders for that day. Gail solicited donations from local stores of gift certificates for Massages, Manicures, Gift Baskets, Wine and Meals from local restaurants to do an auction to raise money for that night. She printed flyers and one went into every Elementary school child’s backpack announcing the event. It was put into the local newspapers and on Port Washington Moms and Dads web site. The response was phenomenal. They took in over $5,000.00 that evening and repeated the event two weeks later and raised an additional $1500.00. She solicited sponsors for the Gala of LLS and Ads in the Journal book. She put together with another Teammate in the town of Huntington a Tag Sale where they collected books, furniture, toys and glassware. All sold out in a few hours. A Spa day was done where volunteers gave the massages and all proceeds went to LLS. Another event was Dress Down Friday in the schools for the Teachers. If they donated $5.00, they could wear Jeans on Fridays. In the 10 weeks she raised $38,000 for this campaign and her Team total was 78,000. On June 18 th she received a Proclamation from the Town of North Hempstead and it was presented by Judi Bosworth, Superintendent for her efforts.The 8 Teams who worked on this campaign took in a record breaking $863,685.Gail has worked in her own Community getting donations of clothing and funds all year long during every disaster. She just started to work on collecting toiletries, clothes and money for the people that were affected by Hurricane Dorian through her Synagogue.She worked on the SAAGNY Foundation for many years doing the Chinese Auction soliciting products for the auction and selling tickets, getting donations of the products for all the other events. She jumps in whenever needed.She served on SAAGNY Committees in 1986 and was elected to the SAAGNY Board of Directors in 1989 and served until 2001.She was inducted into the SAAGNY Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2001 she was a Trustee on the SAAGNY Foundation until 2005. She was inducted in the SAAGNY foundation Hall of Fame in 2008. Place an x in the box of the name you choose.
