The nearly one square mile area shown in the map above has been proposed for rezoning to Heavy Industry, which could include a landfill and other waste facilities or intensive manufacturing-processing plants. While these heavy industry uses could bring more jobs, they could also impact the health and quality of life for those living up to four miles away. Unfortunately, the City of Savannah lacks measures adopted by many other cities to protect neighborhoods from these incompatible uses. We hope you and other Savannah residents will add your name below to those urging the City Council not to approve major rezonings until potential impacts to nearby neighborhoods are fully resolved. For further information contact Greater Savannah Healthy Neighborhoods Alliance co-chairs Amanda Wilson designsbymandy@bellsouth.net or Cheryl Sanderlin cherylsanderlin@comcast.net (912) 657-4088.
