1. Introduction

The North Dakota Governor’s Nursing Shortage Task Force has worked over the last two years to develop a set of strategies. One of these strategies is to examine graduating and practicing nurses intent to stay in North Dakota and at their current employer in order to develop state-based solutions to increase recruitment and retention. The workplace culture subcommittee of the task force is working on strategies and will begin implementation after this study. Administration of the study is a joint effort of the ND Center for Nursing and the University of North Dakota.
