The Implications of Emotional Intelligence in Adult Learning
Informed Consent Form
I am asking you to participate in a research study titled, “The Implications of Emotional Intelligence in Adult Learning.” Participants are required to be a minimum of 25 years old and presently have at least one of the following roles: employee, student, teacher, supervisor, facilitator, instructor, or service member.  This study is being conducted by Robert Randolph, a doctoral candidate at the University of the Cumberlands, Leadership Studies Program. The Faculty Advisor for this research study is Dr. Bess, Department of Education at the University of the Cumberlands.

Background Information:

The purpose of this research is to examine factors that influence adult learning. The goal of this research is to identify and develop techniques to improve training and development within the workplace and academic settings.

Procedures and confidentiality:

You will be asked to complete a series of self-assessment surveys by selecting the web-link provided hosted on SurveyMonkey.com.  It will take about 30 minutes to complete the surveys. Your responses will be anonymous and confidential. Your responses will be automatically compiled in a spreadsheet. All data will be stored in a password protected electronic format. Research records will be kept in a locked file, and only the researcher will have access to the records. 

Voluntary Nature of the Study:

Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with any institutions or agencies. If you initially decide to participate, you are still free to withdraw at any time later.  There will be no compensation provided for your participation in this study.

Risks and Benefits of the Study:

There are no risks associated with participating in this study. The benefits of your participation will provide insight into improving training and development. You may refuse to answer any questions you consider invasive or stressful.
