GMB's EAST OF ENGLAND
|
Dear Colleague,
It has been brought to our attention by individuals who have chosen to contact the GMB with their concerns, that employees have been, and are now, the subject of bullying and harassment within East of England Ambulance Service.
Bullying, harassment and intimidation takes on many forms within the workplace. For many people, the effects of bullying can lead to overwhelming feelings that it may be difficult to talk about with someone else. It is for this reason that the TUC frequently conduct free phone telephone surveys, thereby allowing employees to talk in the strictest confidence with regard to problems that they are experiencing within their workplace concerning harassment, bullying, etc.
The last survey carried out by the TUC identified that 5,000,000 employees have been, at one time or another, the subject of some form of bullying within their place of work. Therefore, the GMB Union are carrying out a confidential survey in an attempt to establish how widespread the problem is within the East of England Ambulance Service.
I would be grateful if you could take the time to complete the enclosed questionnaire and return it in the prepaid envelope provided, in order that we can evaluate the depth of the problem and highlight the issues of concern to your employer.
In the event that some of your colleagues have not received this letter and the accompanying questionnaire, this may be due to the fact that we do not have their correct address on our system or that their GMB membership has lapsed. In this case, please ask them to contact the GMB Baldock Office on 01462 499650, to update their details.
If any of your colleagues are not members of a trade union, but wish to join the GMB and take part in the survey, I enclose an application for membership, which can be completed and returned in the pre-paid envelope, together with your copy of the questionnaire. Any new members will then be sent a copy of the questionnaire to complete and return.
For additional copies of the survey please contact us at the GMB Baldock Office on 01462 499650.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Hughes
