Are you interested in learning what it means to be a global leader? Do you want to understand different cultural perceptions on leadership and gain self-awareness of your own leadership style? Or are you questioning how to ethically lead in an ever-growing global society?

The Global Leadership Retreat is a three-day, two-night weekend with interactive workshops designed to create an environment for individuals to explore what leadership means in their own and other cultural contexts, share experiences, and discuss the meaning of leadership within the context of a globalizing society. The workshops create a safe climate for sharing activities. Participants need to come prepared to actively participate in activities by sharing views, attitudes, beliefs and experiences openly and honestly.

The Cultural Leadership Retreat will take place from Friday, October 17th at 9:00am until Sunday, October 19th at 3:00pm.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, October 3rd at 5pm. As part of the application, you will be required to pay a refundable deposit of $25 (cash or check, preferably check) to the front desk of the Office of Civic Engagement of Diversity, located on the 3rd floor of the Student Union, by Monday, October 6th at 5:00pm. The $25 deposit will be returned to those who attend the retreat or were not accepted. If you are financially unable to afford the $25 deposit please contact James Jones at 895-5067 or james.jones@unlv.edu

Applicants who are accepted but are not able to attend will receive their refund if they contact James Jones at james.jones@unlv.edu to inform him that they cannot attend by Friday, October 10th.

35 applicants will be accepted into the program and an alternate list will be formed after the first 35 are chosen. Priority will be given to first-time participants, however, former participants are encouraged to apply. Other factors used to choose applicants include but are not limited to deposits paid, quality of the application, date of applications, gender logistics that meet our lodging availability, and diversity of the group as a whole. Both international and domestic students are encouraged to apply!

You will be notified by Friday, October 5th via email with your acceptance status. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact James Jones at james.jones@unlv.edu.
