FSS volunteers are responsible for facilitating our weekly food bag program and managing the donations we receive. Food bags and donations are made available to the survivors and families participating in our other programs.
The day that participants are able to come for food bags and donations, sometimes called "Food Day," is Thursdays from 10am-4pm.
Tasks include:
- Putting together bags of food for participants to take home;
- Setting out fresh produce and household goods;
- Assisting participants as needed in carrying items;
- Other assorted office-related tasks.
You are NOT expected to provide advocacy or crisis intervention services while on shift, even if you are otherwise qualified to do so. However, you will be in a publicly accessible place in which domestic violence services are provided, so you may still overhear information that is emotionally difficult.
Time Commitment
- There is a 1-hour orientation you will receive before or during your first shift.
- Shifts are typically on Thursdays from 8:30am-1pm or 2-5pm. However, the hours may have some flexibility, based on agreement from your supervisor.
- This program asks for a minimum of 6 months of service.
