Introduction

The NWS is exploring potential changes to the way it displays and communicates frost and freeze events, and will be asking for comments through December 18, 2021 on a proposal to consolidate Hard Freeze and Freeze headlines.

Currently, the NWS issues five headlines to alert the public and partners on these hazards: Frost Advisory, Freeze Watch, Freeze Warning, Hard Freeze Watch, and Hard Freeze Warning. In this proposal, the Hard Freeze Watch and Hard Freeze Warning headlines would be removed, but enhanced language would be added to the Freeze Watch and Freeze Warning products when appropriate.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us!
