Opportunities for Interprofessional Education (IPE) Facilitators

The Interprofessional Initiative (IPI) is seeking small group facilitators for the “Foundations of Patient Safety and Interprofessional Practice” IPE course spanning the 2018-19 academic year.

The "Foundations of Patient Safety and Interprofessional Practice" course includes three face-to-face, Wednesday afternoon (1:00-5:00pm) sessions: October 3, 2018, January 16, 2019 and April 10, 2019. As part of the Foundations course students work together in their small groups during two intersessions (October to January and January to April) and complete seven online Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Patient Safety modules.

To improve continuity between students and facilitators, the IPI seeks facilitators who are able to commit to at least two of the three face-to-face sessions. As a facilitator, you will be paired with a co-facilitator from a different profession. Together, you will be assigned to a group of 11-14 students. Pairing facilitators who are able to cover the entire year will help ensure that at least one of the same facilitators is present for all three sessions.

IPE is a University-wide commitment to education that should be supported and included in your teaching responsibilities. Your school and program will receive credit for your participation. In the last three years, facilitators have found this interprofessional experience to be very rewarding.

To be an IPE facilitator in the January 16th and April 10th sessionsplease fill out this form by December 3rd, 2018. If you would like to discuss the possibility further, please contact one of the course coordinators Drs.  Curt Stilp and David Bearden, at ipe@ohsu.edu.

Thank you. We value your participation as we strive to create a collaborative interprofessional culture at OHSU.
