Firearms licensing survey for pest professionals

1. Introduction

Any business owners, sole traders and technicians with a commercial interest in firearms licensing are encouraged to take part in this survey.

This short survey will help BPCA shape its response to potential changes to shotgun licensing. It should take no more than five minutes to complete.

Consultation background
The Home Office has indicated that it intends to consult on proposals to more closely align shotgun licensing with rifle controls. This could include merging Section 2 and Section 1 licensing, introducing additional justification requirements, tighter conditions on use, cartridge restrictions and changes to storage requirements.

For pest professionals who use shotguns as part of their commercial activities, these changes could have practical, financial and operational implications.

BPCA is working with partner organisations and engaging with policymakers to ensure the professional use of shotguns in pest management is properly understood. Your feedback will help us evidence the real-world impact on businesses and technicians, strengthen our discussions with politicians, and inform our formal response if and when the Home Office launches its consultation.
