Everyone needs to be able to manage their money. Yet almost two-thirds of young adults do not recall receiving any financial education at all, and 53 per cent are worried that they will never be financially secure. Skills‑based financial education volunteering would allow the savings and investments industry to use its expertise to improve financial confidence and wellbeing across the UK, while strengthening employee engagement and purpose.
An industry‑wide approach creates scale, consistency and greater impact, demonstrating the sector’s commitment to responsible business and better consumer outcomes. We are scoping appetite for a TISA employee volunteering initiative focused on connecting volunteers with schools or community organisations that need financial education for young people (5-25 years old). Volunteers would be supported with content covering budgeting, saving, managing credit, investing and long‑term financial planning.
