You have been selected for participation because you are at least 18 years of age and you state that you had an active Facebook account.

This research has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Southern Oregon University. No personal information will be collected. All information is strictly confidential and identifying information will be destroyed after the responses for all participants have been aggregated. A summary of results will be reported. No names will ever be used in any report of the results of this study. If you have any concerns about the confidentiality of the information you provide please feel free to contact the principal investigator (see below). This research is in no way affiliated with Facebook or any marketing or advertising entity. No personal information will be collected. All information is strictly confidential and will be protected to the degree permitted by the technology used (e.g. IP addresses will be stripped when the survey is submitted). However, no guarantee can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the Internet by any third parties.

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how social networking influences individual identity. This research is being conducted by Daniel DeNeui, Associate Professor of Psychology at Southern Oregon University, 541-552-6913. The aggregate data will be analyzed and may be presented at professional conferences and/or in psychological journals to help further research in this emerging field. You may skip any question that you do not want to answer.
