Grant Details

 Eligibility and Guidelines:
 
1. Any family with a child in active cancer treatment in the United States prior to the child’s 18th birthday is eligible for consideration. Child must be in active treatment and not in remission for more than one year. Families with children not in active treatment but in hospice or palliative care may also apply.

2. Families whose child died from cancer after January 1st, 2019, who have been financially affected by medical bills, funeral costs, and/or loss of a job are also encouraged to apply.

3. Preference will be given to those with more serious prognoses and difficult treatment plans that include in-patient stays at a hospital.

4. Preference will also be given to those that have been impacted directly by COVID-19 either by a family member being diagnosed or by a loss of income.

5. The applicant must be the parent or legal guardian of the diagnosed child and the primary caregiver of the child.

6. The application must be accompanied by a signed letter or direct email from the child’s treating physician or social worker stating the child’s full name, date of birth, diagnosis and date of last treatment provided. 7. In the case of bereaved families, a letter or direct email from the child's treating physician or social worker with child's full name, date of birth, diagnosis and date of death, or a copy of a child's death certificate must be submitted. 8. All sections of the application must be completed and all accompanying documents must be received in order for our Grant Committee to review the request. Failure to provide complete information is a basis for denial of an application.

9. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and assistance may be requested once during any 12-month period.

10. The applications will be reviewed by the Rett's Roost Board of Directors within 30 days of receiving all documents. A determination will be made by a majority vote of the Grant Committee. The grant will be distributed in the form of a direct payment to the family.
 
11. This application will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability or marital status of the parent/guardian applicant or the pediatric cancer patient.

12. Rett’s Roost is committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. Rett’s Roost’s website and this application are not intended for, may not be used by, and the information requested may not be submitted by, children under the age of 14. Rett’s Roost does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 14 and does not target its websites or services to children under 14.
