Please note that the survey below contains reference to suicide and suicidal* thoughts.

GamCare and the Samaritans are being funded by the Gambling Commission to work together to improve the quality of customer interactions within the gambling sector and in particular, crisis situations.

We have created a short questionnaire to help us understand this issue, from those who have been directly impacted by gambling.  This is a real opportunity to bring lived experience into the formulation of the guidelines the gambling industry will receive on how to support vulnerable and suicidal customers.

If you choose to take the survey, you will be asked a series of questions about your gambling, whether it has caused you to have suicidal thoughts, and whether and how you have been in touch with gambling industry staff about these thoughts.  The survey should take around 4 minutes to complete.

We fully understand that thinking about times when someone has had suicidal thoughts can be very difficult and so we only want you to participate in this survey if you feel safe enough to do so. Please do not take part if you are struggling at the moment, or have been recently. Free support is available at all times from Samaritans on 116123.

You can choose to take this survey anonymously, but if you provide your contact details, you are consenting to being contacted by GamCare and Samaritans to answer follow up questions relating to the themes covered in this survey. GamCare / Samaritans may contact you up to one year from the date you completed the survey. We will not share your name or personal information with third parties, but the data you provide may be used anonymously in publications, reports and marketing materials. You can ask to access the data from your survey, or for it to be destroyed, at any time by emailing megan.pengelly@gamcare.org.uk.

*where 'suicidal' is referred to throughout this survey, it refers to people who are thinking about, considering, or planning to take their own life.

This survey is voluntary, you do not have to take part and you can stop at any time.
