The Town of Nags Head’s estuarine shoreline is a critical piece of "natural" infrastructure that protects homes, roads, and other important community assets behind it that are vulnerable to flooding, storm surge, and erosion. The Town desires to be proactive in managing the Estuarine Shoreline and seeks to develop a comprehensive plan to address the management of the Town's 17 miles of estuarine shoreline. The plan will inventory existing shorelines and document historical changes; identify shoreline best management practices that can be utilized for each segment of the shoreline; explore legal barriers to shoreline management; and consider the impacts of future hazards, such as sea level rise, on the estuarine system.  As part of this project, it's important to understand community values and thoughts and how the shoreline is currently being used.  Please help us with this project by sharing your thoughts and feelings about the estuarine shoreline.  To learn more about the project visit the Town's website HERE.
