Background

GHD, a firm of engineering and economic consultants, has been appointed by Southern Downs Regional Council to conduct an independent study of the technical and economic feasibility of constructing and operating the proposed Emu Swamp Dam among other options for urban and rural water supply enhancement.

The purpose of this study is to provide a definitive assessment of the need for Emu Swamp Dam as a water supply source and as growth-enabling infrastructure. Specifically, this study seeks to develop a business case that supports a Council decision as mechanisms to meet future urban and rural water requirements.
