Survey Introduction and Goals:

Now well into its second anniversary, Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, continues to shape our Catholic approach to care for God’s creation, the poor, and integral ecology. The following survey provides a chance for the Diocesan Social Action Office to hear from parishes about their experience with Laudato Si’ with three key goals in mind:

- Learn where parishes are with promotion/use of Laudato Si’, care for God’s creation, etc.
- Surface creative ways parishes are integrating Laudato Si’, care for God’s creation, etc.
- Hear back from parishes on additional resources/follow up they would like in these areas from the Diocesan Social Action Office and Catholic Commissions.

Pope Francis urges us: “(In) this Encyclical…, I would like from the outset to show how faith convictions can offer Christians…ample motivation to care for nature and for the most vulnerable of their brothers and sisters.” (#64) Parishes can promote this faith conviction in many areas of parish life, such as: prayer and worship, learning and formation, assessing/discerning, action/ministry, advocating, among others. These areas cover the main feedback we ask from you, concluding with how the Social Action Office can assist your parish/staff with integrating Laudato Si’ into parish life via other ways/resources you list.

We designed the survey for ease of response online in Survey Monkey. Visit DSAO’s webpage (www.ccdocle.org/dsao) for the direct link. Or, if you prefer, complete the PDF fillable form, which needs Acrobat Reader to open. You can request a copy of the PDF fillable form by email request to Jeff Campbell at:  jcampbell@ccdocle.org.

The basic survey can take 5-10 minutes. The full survey can take 15-20 minutes. Added info for open response sections can take longer to compile. A parish staff member might best complete the survey.

Thank you sincerely for your response to this survey and for your earnest discernment of the call and challenge of Laudato Si’! As Laudato Si’ concludes, "In union with all creatures, we journey through this land seeking God… Let us sing as we go. May our struggles and our concern for this planet never take away the joy of our hope!" (#244)
