Dementia Friendly Tempe Overview

Tempe is working with Dementia Friendly America and local partners to become a “Dementia Friendly Community.” Please note that dementia refers to a chronic progressive health condition that affects memory and thinking abilities. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia. The first part of our efforts is to evaluate how various sectors of our community -- such as business, government, healthcare etc. -- are equipped to work with the growing population of Tempeans who are living with a memory loss condition like dementia or caring for a person who is affected. These individuals are called “care partners” in this survey.

This is the survey for those who provide legal and financial services to people living in Tempe.  If this does not apply to you, click here to find a more appropriate survey.

The legal and financial sectors can play a supportive role in creating a dementia friendly community. Putting financial and legal plans in place soon after a dementia diagnosis is made can help people secure a healthier financial future.

Before you complete the survey below, you can take a few minutes to watch the video below to learn a little more about the "Dementia Friendly" Process.

Each and every part of the community can work towards becoming dementia friendly. As each sector takes its own steps to foster support, a community that is informed, safe and respectful emerges to foster quality of life for those living with dementia and their care partners.  This graphic shows how all sectors in our community can make a difference.
