You are invited to take part in a research study about the dating experiences of young adults. This form is part of a process called “informed consent” to allow you to understand this study before deciding whether to take part.
This study seeks 77 volunteers who are:
· 18 to 28 year old cisgender and non-cisgender.
· Live in the United States.
· Not previously engaged, divorced, or married.
· Dated within the past 3 months.
This study is being conducted by a researcher named Crystal Currie, who is a student at Walden University.
Study Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to better understand how childhood experiences impact dating experiences of young adults in a digital world.
Procedures:
This study would involve you completing the following step:
Complete an anonymous online survey (approximately 15 minutes) by answering multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
Here are some sample questions and statements:
1. What is your age?
2. I feel that I have a number of good qualities.
3. If my friends are in a bad mood, I tend to wonder if it is because of me.
4. I enjoy dating.
5. My parent made me feel wanted and needed.
Voluntary Nature of the Study:
1. Research should only be done with those who freely volunteer.
2. Everyone involved will respect your decision to join or not. If you decide to join the study now, you can still change your mind later.
3. You may stop at any time. I can only use fully completed surveys, if there is a question you do not want to answer, you can close your browser and end the study.
Risks and Benefits of Being in the Study:
Being in this study could involve some risk of the minor discomforts that can be encountered in daily life such as sharing sensitive information. With the protections in place, this study would pose minimal risk to your well-being. If distress arises, support and referral can be obtained via dialing 988 for a national crisis hotline.
This study offers no direct benefits to individual volunteers. The aim of this study is to benefit society by better understanding how to support young adults who want to date. Results of this study will be automatically published online in Scholarworks (a publication of Walden University doctoral research) which can be viewed free of charge.
Payment:
You will be paid $2.50 and in accordance with the terms outlined by Prolific.
