Join us for two nights of Comedy and Improv with Shane Thevenot (they/he) from Queer Comedy Winnipeg!

August 4th: Comedy Workshop
This Comedy workshop is for funny and unfunny people alike who wish to tap into their inner comedian. We’ll do free fall writing/drawing, prompts, and games to encourage creativity and laughter. If you have a funny story to tell, big feelings about something, or are the kind of person who notices things that others don’t, this workshop is for you. You’ll leave having written or drawn something that reflects your particular brand of comedy. There’s no need to be perfect, the goal is to connect to others through our hilarious imperfections.

August 5th: Improv Workshop
Learn the basics of performing without a script at this Improv Workshop. We’ll play games, make up characters, and create scenes together. This workshop is for creative kids, theatre kids, and even shy kids who want to try improv. Not ready to join in? Feel free to just watch!

Who is Shane???!!!
Shane Thevenot (they/he) is a local Winnipeg comedian who runs an open mic called Queer Comedy Night at the Little Brown Jug. Their stand-up special, Late-in-Life Lesbian, received an honourable mention for the English Comedy Award at the 2024 Montreal Fringe Festival. They have opened for musical comedian, Kirsten Key, and continue to do shows across Treaty One and beyond. They have more than 10 years of experience doing improv with Sunday Night Improv at Théâtre St. Catherine in Montreal, Quebec.

  • 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allied youth (a friend!)
  • Youth between the ages of 10 - 21
