CRA Sign-On Letter

The Community Opportunity Alliance is working to ensure that our network has a strong voice in ongoing Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) advocacy. Community development associations connect local organizations to one another and to banks, public agencies, funders, and policymakers; identify needs that may not be visible through lending data alone; build the capacity of organizations to deploy capital; and help effective practices spread across communities.

The letter is based on seven principles for a strong Community Reinvestment Act:
  1. Put community needs and impact first.
  2. Match responsibility to the way banks do business today.
  3. Address racial inequity directly.
  4. Preserve community development responsibility across the system.
  5. Protect flexible grants and the infrastructure behind community impact.
  6. Maintain transparency, public participation, and strong data.
  7. Act through one interagency framework.
