Chalk the Walk Activity Information: 
Categories: There is a youth category for age 15 and under and an adult category for 16 and over. 
Materials: Participants will be supplied with a box of 24 high-quality artist chalk. 
Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given in each category. 
Rain: Event will take place rain or shine. 
Photography: Photographs may be taken by Museum staff and volunteers and used for future publicity.  

  • Drawings must be appropriate for public viewing. 
  • No commercial stencils please. Feel free to use the tools such masking tape, rulers, or cardboard to mask off areas while working. You may want to use a cheap sponge to blend large areas. 
  • Feel free to use a prepared sketch to work from. 
  • If you are creating an image originally created by another artist (living or deceased), it is important to credit the artist and title near the drawing. 
General Information: Snap a picture of your artwork and another with the artist(s) next to the work, and email to museum@roswell-nm.gov no later than Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 11:59 pm. Include the artist name(s), age(s) if under 16, mailing address and phone number. Artwork will be showcased on Facebook and Instagram and be eligible for an award. Image of artists will not be posted. Art must be appropriate for viewing by all ages. Limit one entry per artist.

  • The art I create must be suitable for public, family and children viewing (no nude or lewd work, profanity). No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art. 
  • The Chalk Your Walk Committee reserves the right to refuse, stop or eliminate objectionable material and their opinion will be final. 
  • I will be courteous, friendly and helpful to fellow artists and members of the public. 
  • City of Roswell is allowed to create, use and publish photographs/film/video/electronic representations and/or sound recordings of my design and myself or my minor child at the Chalk the Walk and release the City of Roswell, its employees, volunteers and related parties from any and all liabilities from such use and publication. 
  • I release the City of Roswell, all sponsors, organizations, and individuals involved in the Chalk the Walk from any liability, product or personal.
