As a part of CHA’s 2024 advocacy strategy, the Association continues to evaluate the landscape regarding payer-provider interactions and is asking for a response to the survey referenced below.  This message is directed to the CFO at each hospital facility.  If someone else in your facility would be better to respond to the survey, please forward.

Background
A report from the American Hospital Association, Commercial Health Plans’ Policies Compromise Patient Safety and Raise Costs, highlights how commercial payer requirements are adding unnecessary cost to the health care system, hurting both patients and providers. Policies like strict prior authorization requirements, fail-first programs, pharmaceutical white bagging, and more, are demonstrated to have detrimental impacts on patient’s access to care and health system’s performance.

CHA recognizes the significant burden many of these commercial health plan policies have placed on Colorado’s hospitals and health systems and is committed to addressing these concerns through advocacy, messaging, partnerships, and more.

As you may be aware, CHA is developing a more robust quantitative data collection effort with hospitals. Until that data becomes more complete, CHA will utilize hospital’s response to the survey below to support advocacy efforts.

Survey Request
CHA would appreciate answers to the questions below for your organization including the types and concerns your facility is experiencing.  This survey will take about 7 minutes to complete and we ask that you complete this survey by September 22, 2023.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about this survey please reach out to Ryan Westrom, Senior Director of Finance, at Ryan.Westrom@cha.com
