The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Dietetics Workforce Capacity and Demand Project Task Force is inviting you to take a survey.

In this survey, the term RD is used to refer to both registered dietitians and registered dietitian nutritionists, and the term DTR is used to refer to both dietetic technicians, registered, and nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered.

What is the purpose of the survey?

The purpose of the survey is to inform the CDR Dietetics Workforce Capacity and Demand Project. CDR completed a workforce analysis in 2012. To align with our evolving professional landscape, prioritize roles within expanding industries, and incorporate technological advancements and data-driven tools, a proactive and multi-faceted approach is necessary to analyze the accuracy of the 2012 model and to gather data to assess trends for the profession and predict future impacts.

What will I do?

You will answer questions about your demographics, education, professional roles, and use of CDR resources.

What are the risks of taking the survey?

Some questions may be personal or sensitive. You can stop the survey at any time.

There is a risk of your data being hacked or seen by someone who should not have access to it. We minimize this risk by

· collecting responses via a secure system; and

· storing data on a password-protected, encrypted drive.

Taking the survey is voluntary. There is no penalty for not taking the survey. If you start the survey, you can change your mind and stop at any time.

What are the possible benefits of taking the survey?

Taking the survey will help inform the CDR Dietetics Workforce Capacity and Demand Project and support CDR-credentialed nutrition and dietetics practitioners.

Will I be compensated for taking the survey?

You will have the option to provide your name and email address at the end of the survey.

Each of the first 100 participants to complete the survey and provide their name and email address will be given a $50 Amex gift card.

All participants who complete the survey and provide their names and email addresses will be entered into a drawing for 1 of 10 $100 Amex gift cards.

How long will it take?

The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete.

If you do not have time to complete the survey after you begin, you can stop and complete it later if you use the same computer and have cookies enabled on the computer. To save your answers on a page, you must complete all answers on that page and click “Next” at the bottom of the page before closing the browser.

When are survey responses due?

Survey responses are due by 11:59 PM CT on October 22, 2025.

You may leave and return to the survey as many times as you would like before you submit your responses.

Will my responses be confidential?

Your responses will be confidential. Individual responses will not be linked to any personal identifiers. All responses will be reported as aggregate data. Data will be securely stored and only accessible to the CDR Dietetics Workforce Capacity and Demand Project Task Force. Results will be presented in a manner that prevents the identification of any individual participant.
Will the survey ask for my name and email address?

After you complete the survey, you will have the option to provide your name and email address to participate in the gift card giveaway or drawing. Your name and email address will not be linked to your other survey responses.

Will the survey ask for my employer's contact information?

After you complete the survey, you will have the option to provide your employer's organization name and email address. CDR will use this information to invite your employer to take a separate survey related to the employment of CDR-credentialed nutrition and dietetics practitioners. Your employer's organization name and email address will not be linked to your other survey responses.

Who will have access to my responses?


The CDR Dietetics Workforce Capacity and Demand Project Task Force will have access to your responses.

Survey results will be published and presented, but always in aggregate.

How long will CDR keep my responses?

CDR will keep your responses for 8 years.

How is the survey funded?

The survey is funded by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
