The Center Against Sexual and Family Violence (CASFV) is hosting the annual Parenting Conference aiming to educate and empower parents. This year’s conference will work to address effective communication skills, practices, and approaches for parent and child relationships.
CASFV is excited to announce a call for workshop proposals for the 2019 Parenting Conference. The theme of the conference is “Building strength. Connecting relationships.” We invite workshop proposals that focus on methods in building parent and child relationships through connectedness, empathy, communication, and understanding; provide innovative practices and strategies for parents to effectively communicate with their child; and develop healthy relationship skills and strategies for single parents and/or blended families.
Proposals will be considered based on the following criteria:
- Content is aligned with conference theme (Building strength. Connecting relationships.)
- Session includes use of adult learning methods as appropriate.
- Session learning objectives are clear.
Workshop Length:
Each workshop session is 60 minutes. Please plan your workshop accordingly.
Audience:
The conference attendees will be parents who are registered clients consisting of diverse individuals. Attendees have had different experiences, which involve trauma from domestic violence and/or sexual assault. In addition, some audience members may be triggered during workshops, so confidentiality and sensitivity are essential. Proposals should be developed and clearly identified for the target audience. Please keep in mind that 70% of the audience will be Spanish language dominant.
Proposal Submission Process:
Submissions must be received by 12 pm on Monday, January 14th, 2019. Applicants will be notified by Monday, January 21st, 2019.
