Case navigators in our Housing & Employment Program (HEP) are assigned to one or two survivors and their families. They assist with self-sufficiency so that survivors and their children don't have to return to an unsafe household. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting with housing searches, negotiating with landlords, learning their legal rights as a renter, seeking out employment-improvement trainings and classes, and assistance with enrolling in other social support programs such as CalWORKS and CalFRESH.
Case navigation more similar to social work and case management than it is to crisis intervention advocacy or peer counseling, which is what our volunteer advocates provide.
This position is a hybrid remote/in person one. Some tasks may be done online or remotely while others may involve being on-site at our main office, making visits to homes, or attending meetings with landlords or service providers.
Time Commitment
- Completion of EITHER the DV certification training OR a shorter training facilitated by one of the advocates (arranged with the approval of the HEP supervisor;
- Approximately 8-10 hours/week (tasks vary based on the needs of the case(s) assigned to the navigator);
- This program asks for a minimum of 12 months of service.
