October 15-21, 2012 is Careers in Energy Week, an nationwide initiative propelled by the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) and member companies to increase student and public awareness of technical training job opportunities in the energy industry. Careers in Energy Week also provides an opportunity for energy and utilities industry companies to connect with their local communities to build awareness of the challenges facing the U.S. around filling critical-jobs in the energy and utilities industry.
In celebration of California’s first-ever Careers in Energy Week, as commemorated in a Letter from Governor Jerry Brown, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E) and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) are partnering with the California Energy and Utility Workforce Consortium to sponsor an essay contest and innovation idea competition for California high school and community college/university students.
