The browntail moth is an invasive insect from Europe which has been in Maine for more than 100 years. The pest had been known mostly from coastal areas, with small inland populations known in sites near Lewiston/Auburn and Augusta. Starting in 2015 we've seen a dramatic increase in the population of browntail. If you suspect you've found browntail moth outside of the area known to have moderate to high impacts, you can report your find here. Please upload a picture of your find for confirmation.
