About Us:

The Bakehouse Art Complex is a non-profit arts organization at the heart of South Florida’s vibrant arts scene. For nearly four decades, we have been an organization that centers creativity, collaboration, and community-building.

Housed in a historic Art Deco-era industrial bakery, we offer artists affordable studios through our studio residency program, access to several fabrication spaces and a network of peers, as well as programs and learning opportunities in service of our larger community. Our community features over 100 resident and associate artists representing a diverse range of cultures, languages, and artistic practices, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, performance art, and digital media.

Position Overview:
The Communications and internal programs Internship at the Bakehouse Art Complex provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Miami art scene through content creation, storytelling, and interviews. Working alongside the Residency Program Coordinator, this role is designed for motivated students interested in exploring a career in the arts, communications, or nonprofit management. Interns will gain hands-on experience while working closely with staff across multiple departments to gain a holistic understanding of the operations behind a growing and sustaining arts organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating and organizing content for our monthly newsletter.
  • Help generate, schedule, and repost content across social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Brainstorm creative ideas for social media campaigns to engage the Bakehouse’s audience.
  • Assist with special projects, and events as needed.
  • Assist with data collections of artist achievements of current artists, alumni program.
  • Assist with interviewing artists practices at Bakehouse.
  • Administrative support of the artist residency programs.
  • On-site participation, between 15-20 hours per week.
Qualifications:
  • Currently undergraduate students: Juniors (3rd year) or Seniors (final year) in Public relations, Communications and Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Museum Studies, Event Management, Education, Art History, or a related field.
  • Passion for the arts and interest in non-profit organizations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
  • Familiarity with creative softwares (adobe photoshop, indesign, premiere, capcut, canva)
  • Familiarity with google drive offices.
  • Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable.
