Baby and Me: The Basics is a class at Veterans Memorial Hospital that is now being offered on January 2nd in the Large Conference Room. This class will last 4 hours. A fee of $40.00 is required before or at the time of the class which can be dropped off at registration. Tours of the OB Department will be held after class.

SESSION 1: Car Seat & Breast Feeding
Helping Services' Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians; Barb Fjelstul & Rachel Weber will take you through the basics of making sure your child is correctly secured in their car seat and the seat secured in your vehicle. Barb Fjelstul, also a breast-feeding educator, will guide you through the challenges & rewards of breast-feeding and provide techniques to ensure your baby is getting the most benefit from nursing.
SESSION 2: Relaxation, Breathing and Pain Management
Rachel Stone, RN, labor and delivery nurse will give  expecting mothers education on what to expect during labor and coping with pain during labor.
SESSION 3: Infant CPR and SIDS
Cheryl Livingston, EMTPM and SIDS Educator will provide parents with hands on infant CPR training.  She will also educate parents on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), risk factors associated with SIDS, and how to provide a safe sleeping environment for your infant.
