Overview

ASA members are leaders, practitioners, policy-makers and caregivers in our shared field of aging, with varied expertise and experiences that have helped shape the aging experience for people across our country throughout this year.  ASA will recognize an impressive and extensive list of leaders for their dedication to uplifting the field of aging and increasing the visibility of the issues of older adults as we all work together to Unite, Empower and Champion one another.

This year, we will accept self nominations and encourage our members to nominate their colleagues for one of these awards:

ASA Hall of Fame Award: This is awarded to an individual who has, through a lifetime of advocacy and leadership, enhanced the lives of elders through demonstrated leadership at the national level.

ASA Award: This award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to aging-related research, administration or advocacy.

Graduate Student Research Award: This award is given to spur academic and clinical interest in the field of aging, and traditionally this rewards the best published or unpublished graduate research paper on a completed project relevant to aging and applicable to practice.

Gloria Cavanaugh Award for Excellence in Training and Education: This award recognizes an individual or program that has made a significant contribution to training and education in the field of aging.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Award: This newly established ASA award recognizes the leadership and excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) as it integrates with the annual On Aging conference theme. In its inaugural year, the DEI Champion Award will recognize a member or member organization who has engaged in and/or advanced praxis, policy, or practices in the field of aging addressing systemic inequities in economic security.

All nominations will be reviewed by our Awards Committee made up of ASA members and the winners will be announced at On Aging 2022.

Please note that you must be an ASA member in good standing to make a nomination and all nominees must be an ASA member in good standing to be selected as a winner.
