Asperger’s Syndrome is a form of autism. It may or may not have an ADHD component. It manifests differently in every child.

Here is a list of a few of the traits a child with Asperger’s may demonstrate (source:  www.austimspeaks.org):

·       Social awkwardness
·       Outbursts or tantrums
·       Inappropriate responses
·       Impulsiveness
·       Abnormal modulation of emotions
·       Anxiety
·       Takes things very literally
·       Low frustration tolerance
·       Rage

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 68 children have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  Of these, Asperger’s is one of the most common forms and difficult to diagnose due to it’s moderate symptoms and challenges compared to extreme autism.  However, the behavioral challenges are prevalent, particularly for boys.
