The City of Pickering acknowledges that Black communities are impacted by racism. In an effort to address the realities of Anti-Black Racism, the City will:
-          Create a comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion Strategy
-          Establish a Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce (PABRT)
-          Develop an Anti-Black Racism Action Plan

The Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce (PABRT) will report directly to Pickering Council and be mandated to:
-          identify barriers to access and inclusion;
-          create an Anti-Black Racism Action Plan, which identifies issues of anti-Black racism in Pickering and, through a consultative process, offer recommendations to enhance the shared experience and opportunities afforded to Black residents
-          identify and coordinate opportunities for stakeholder and community engagement
-          provide expert input and action on matters relating to the provision of anti-Black racism initiatives within the community
-          celebrate and promote the Black community, and promote Black culture

This survey is intended for residents of Pickering, and agents of organizations and businesses serving the City of Pickering. This survey is meant to collect individual experiences of Anti-Black Racism within Pickering. As a resident of Pickering, if you are filling this in on behalf of members of your household, we encourage you to submit one survey per household member. If you are the leader of an organization or business serving Pickering, please share this with your network/membership/employees.

As part of a process of identifying critical issues related to racial discrimination and institutional racism in our community, we invite you to complete this survey by Sunday, December 20.

This survey is being conducted by the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Preparatory Sub-committee. The purpose of the Preparatory Sub-committee is to recruit the Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce (PARBT) and gather information from the community which will be used by the Taskforce to make recommendations to Council. 

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes and your responses are voluntary and will be confidential. You can find a full glossary here. Responses will not be identified by individual. All responses will be compiled together and analyzed as a group. Survey results will be used to form a future report to Council.
