The American Nephrology Nurses Association and Nephrology News & Issues are conducting the first national study of the health and safety of nephrology nurse practice settings and the experiences of nephrology nurses.  This is an important survey, the results of which have the potential to influence the health and safety of nephrology nurses, nephrology nursing practice, and - ultimately - patient outcomes.

The survey includes several types of questions.

  • There are questions on demographic information - your current role, years of experience, career plans, etc. -- but not your name or your employer's name.
  • There is a section that asks you to describe the characteristics of the organization and unit in which you work, the support and resources provided (or not) for your health and safety, etc.  The questions in that section ask for your observations, perceptions, and opinions about the health and safety of the work environment in your organization in general and your work unit specifically.  In this study, your work unit or unit is defined as the work area, department, or practice setting in which you spend most of your work time or provide most of your clinical services.
  • The next section includes questions about your experiences with health, safety, and work environment issues.
  • The final part is composed of two open-ended questions for you to share your experiences – good and bad – so that others can learn from them.

Your responses are confidential.  If you do not wish to answer a question, or if a question does not apply to you, you may leave your answer blank. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. By completing this survey, you are indicating your consent to participate in the study.

Individuals who complete the survey will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a free copy of Contemporary Nephrology Nursing (3rd Edition) or the Core Curriculum for Nephrology Nursing (6th Edition). Four (4) individuals will receive the book of their choice.

The deadline for responding to this survey is January 29, 2018.
