Application for Board of Education Ad Hoc Committee on Diversity

This application is strictly for the Ad Hoc Committee on Diversity, which was approved by the Board of Education on October 18, 2016. This is a short-term committee that will disband after the charge is met.

The Committee is charged to offer recommendations to expand existing programs or to offer new initiatives that will promote respect for all cultures and diversity throughout Washington County.  The Committee is charged to:

·         Identify effective practices to enhance educational opportunities, including a focus on equity and the achievement gap. 

·         Identify effective practices to enhance employment opportunities.

·         Identify additional effective practices to recruit, retain, develop, and promote a diverse and inclusive workforce.

·         Identify effective practices to establish a more culturally inclusive community, with a focus on items such as, but not limited to, the enhancement of arts and cultural opportunities, affordable quality housing options, and improved transportation options.
