The ACT Now Fund was created to respond to the needs of nonprofit organizations providing critical services to Alexandrians in response to a significant community crisis, in this case, the COVID-19 outbreak. ACT for Alexandria and the City of Alexandria recognize that nonprofit organizations responding to this unanticipated crisis are seeing an increase in the demand for services and need financial support to support the community and address these unexpected needs. Grants will be awarded for organizations assisting children and youth, people disproportionately impacted by the crisis including – low-wage workers, gig economy workers, people experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness, healthcare and emergency response workers, Seniors and immigrants.
The Fund will begin to accept requests on Thursday, March 19 and the first deadline will be Friday, March 20. Grant applications will be due every subsequent Friday by 5pm. The number of future grant awards will be dependent on the funds raised through the ACT Now COVID-19 Response Fund and the evolving needs over time. We anticipate funding through a multi-phased approach that will continue throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of the crisis.
