Good afternoon,

Thank you for your interest in the Active Shooter Preparedness course, offered by the Rockledge Police Department and hosted at the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center.

An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and other populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearms and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims. Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly.

All individuals can help prevent and prepare for potential active shooter situations. This course will describe the actions to take when confronted with an active shooter and to assist responding law enforcement officials.

This course is not written for law enforcement officers, but has been developed by the Rockledge Police Department for non-law enforcement individuals.

For questions, do not hesitate to reach out to the Brevard County Emergency Management at 321-637-6661.

Thank you,
Rockledge Police Department
