Background & Purpose

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) operates a national professional standards scheme (PSS) under the Professional Standards Act 1994 (NSW) and professional standards legislation in all other Australian states and territories.

This Form is to be completed by Participating Members of the ACS PSS who are seeking to notify or update ACS on a new or existing notification, claim or settlement.

Purpose of the Form
The professional standards legislation requires ACS to collect, monitor and analyse data on Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance notifications, claims and settlements in relation to ACS PSS participants' professional services. The PSC requires ACS to identify and report, as soon as practicable, on being notified of any claim or notification which may breach, or breaches, the liability cap of $2 million. ACS Certified Professionals (CP) must also report changes to their PI Insurance. Every ACS PSS participant must have the benefit of a current PI insurance coverage that:
  • covers them for their professional services, and
  • is compliant with the ACS Insurance Standards
If this requirement is not met, the CP member will not be able retain their benefit from capped liability under the ACS PSS.
