Background & Purpose

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) operates a national Professional Standards Scheme (PSS) under the professional standards legislation in all Australian states and territories. All ACS Certified Professional (CP) members must participate in the ACS PSS, unless an exemption applies.

This Form is to be completed by Participating Members of ACS PSS seeking a discretionary monetary ceiling (DMC) higher than the default monetary ceiling of $2 million (AUD) under the ACS PSS for some or all of their professional services. This Form can be completed at any time by Participating Members of the ACS PSS, as defined in cl 7.1 of the ACS PSS.

Clause 5.1 of the ACS PSS provides: "The Scheme confers on the ACS a discretionary authority, on application by a Participating Member, to specify in relation to that person a higher maximum amount of liability than would otherwise apply under the Scheme, in all cases or in any specified case or class of case."

ACS will assess each application having regard to the criteria set out in cl 4.7 of the ACS Professional Standard Scheme Discretionary Monetary Ceiling Guidelines (DMC Guidelines).
