The Department of Neurosurgery and the Center for Neuroregeneration, Houston Methodist Research Institute invites researchers to submit abstracts for poster sessions at the fourth biennial Zusman Workshop at Houston Methodist Research Institute, Houston, Texas. 
Selected abstracts will be awarded travel reimbursement and will be invited to give a 5-minute oral presentation at the workshop. Early-stage scientists and under-represented minorities are especially encouraged to apply. 
Topics for the workshop include:
  • Look at ‘em grow! Molecular controls and axon growth rates
  • Is it organic? The vegan approach: injectable biomaterials in wound healing and regeneration, including excitable materials
  • The glia idea? Glial and immune glia in plasticity
  • Control your impulses: tools in mouse systems – plasticity
  • Neuromodulation: where is the current going?
  • Single cell omics: garbage in, roses out?
  • Winning bowels and minds?
To be considered for acceptance, abstracts must follow these guidelines:

  • Only graduate students, post-doctoral and clinician fellows, and residents are eligible and must be presenting authors.
  • Accepted abstracts must contain
    (1) a hypothesis or statement of the research study,
    (2) a statement of the experimental methodology used,
    (3) results provided in summary form, and
    (4) conclusion.
  • Abstract text may not exceed 400 words.
