This project is supported by the Maternal Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under grant number U43MC09134.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Zika ECHO® aims to increase pediatric clinician knowledge, comfort, and competence in providing care to children and their families affected by Zika virus infection. This project uses the ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) model to provide health professional education and training, through a telementoring platform, to increase the clinical expertise of pediatric clinicians to more appropriately provide family-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, and culturally effective care in the context of a medical home for infants and families who are affected by the Zika virus.

The AAP has partnered with Zika virus specialists, other subspecialists with expertise on care of affected children, families, state public health officials, and pediatric primary care clinicians to leverage the expertise of a multidisciplinary expert group to provide guidance on how to conduct a comprehensive evaluation, establish a diagnosis, and manage the care of children and their families affected by Zika virus infection. Participants will also be encouraged to share de-identified patient cases for case-based learning.

Sessions occur biweekly and last one hour.  Each session includes a short didactic on up-to-date information related to zika virus, along with a de-identified patient case presentation and discussion.

Please register below and an AAP staff member will send you participation details.

Our next call will take place on Tuesday, November 14 from 12:30-1:30pm CST.  Additional session dates/times are TBD.
