About You

The Banyule Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee provides Council with advice and information on Inclusion, Access and Equity, issues facing the Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander communities and on the development and implementation of Council’s Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander Plan 2017-21.

The Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander advisory committee membership consists of up to 15 community members and 2 Councillors. Council staff will provide support and assistance to the committee.

Community members appointed to the committee will include representation from:
   - Residents representing the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
   - Representatives from community groups, organisations, agencies and service providers that have a focus on provision of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Banyule. These will include (but not limited to):
     * Barrbunin Beek Committee
     * Banyule Community Health Services Aboriginal Health Team
     * Reconciliation Banyule

   - A representative from the Wurundjeri Tribe Lands and Compensation Heritage Council

Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from interested individuals and groups/ local agencies to fill vacancies at half way through the term. The term of the committee finishes in December 2018.  EXPRESSION OF INTEREST CLOSE MONDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2018.
