The City of Marysville is considering whether to offer a 4th of July event for the community. We are asking for input from Marysville residents about how much you would value and support such an event. Please complete the following survey. We appreciate hearing your thoughts.

* 1. Do you live within the Marysville city limits?

* 2. Do you think the City of Marysville should produce a public event for the 4th of July?

* 3. Do you support the use of public tax dollars for such an event?

* 4. A professional fireworks show costs at least $25,000 (a nearby community spends $60,000 for fireworks alone). Staff time for any event, which may include overtime and/or holiday pay, can also be costly. Other costs could include entertainment, vendors, security, insurance, sanitation, staging, equipment rentals and more.

If you believe the City should produce and pay for a 4th of July event, what types of events should be considered? Choose the option you most prefer.

* 5. Which of the following is most important to you in a community 4th of July event?

* 6. Some communities produce an event on a day other than the 4th, such as the 3rd of July or the closest weekend to the holiday. Is a holiday event on another such date just as appealing as one on the 4th?

* 7. If any of the above events were offered, would you attend with friends and family?

* 8. What did you do on the 4th of July in 2017, the first year fireworks were illegal for individuals to possess and discharge in Marysville?

* 9. Do you have any other comments the City should consider in making this decision?
